Play On! Canada is pleased to assist professional hockey clubs in the hosting of this mass participation event in their community.

Play On! Canada is pleased to assist malls and/or other mass retail locations drive benefit to their tenants through the hosting of this mass participation event.

Play On! Canada is also pleased to assist governments and non-government organizations in their efforts to help communities become more active.

Play On! events operate over two days – usually (but not necessarily) Saturday (“Regular Season”) and Sunday (“Playoffs”).

PLAY ON! is a two-day tournament usually held on a weekend.

However, four days are required to properly operate this event, including setup and cleanup.
If the event is small, it may be possible to set-up in one day.
That decision may be made at a later time.
For now, it would be wise to plan for two days of set-up.

Events should not be held outdoors if there is a possibility of extreme cold or snow.

We look forward to working together to deliver a exceptional Play On!x event in your community!

Historically, municipalities and tourism authorities have entered into bid processes in order to attain rights to host a major national or international event.
As part of the process of preparing their bid, these organizations will estimate the economic impact to be generated by the event, based on past actuals and other information available.
The actual economic impact for this event will be calculable, based on real data collected through this technology platform directly from those who attend this event. The final economic impact will be determined as the average of the three most widely accepted economic impact evaluation methodologies available to us at this time:
TREIM (ONTARIO), STEAM (CANADA), and EVENT IMPACTS (UK)
Upon completion of the event, your Play On! consultant will collaborate with you to complete the economic impact calculation using each of these three models.
Your hosting fee will be paid to Play On! Canada after the event, calculated as 8.75% of the total economic impact generated. Funds will be utilized by Play On! Canada (a not for profit organization) in order to sustain the future operation of this program and others like it.

Access to STEAM is free but is restricted to members of the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance who have attended a training workshop, offered regionally across Canada throughout the year.
Contact us for assistance with making attendance assumptions.

There are two operational models to choose from.

Under this operational model, the municipality will assume all human resource and financial responsibilities associated with operating this event, including set-up, clean-up, tournament management/officiating, etc. This may entail utilizing existing human resources, hiring and managing a third party event operator, or some combination (subject to Play On! Canada guidelines). The municipality/tourism authority will also be principally responsible for the local marketing/promotion of the event. In turn, the municipality/tourism authority would also receive 90% of registration revenues from the event, 50% of eligible spectator/donation revenues, and 50% of sponsorship revenues (in order to help offset operational costs).
